Introducing: How Can We Do This? – Monthly Fraternal Blog Series

Welcome to How Can We Do This?, a monthly blog series designed to explore key questions and strategies for advancing our fraternal order and our engagement with the community. Each month, we’ll tackle a different topic, inspiring brothers and the community to work together and make meaningful contributions.

**NOTE: These points represent ideas that can lead to more in-person actions. Additional information will be added to specify processes as they relate to internal workings. These ideas can be applied to other organizations with similar structures to ours, such as:


  • National Pan-Hellenic Council members

  • Other Greek Organizations (GOs)

  • Non-Greek Organizations (NGOs)

  • Alumni Chapters

  • High school Groups

  • Collegiate or Undergraduate Chapters


Here’s what we have in store for the year:


1. September – Planning Family and Couple Events

This month focuses on creating family-centered and couple-focused activities that strengthen bonds within our fraternity. We’ll discuss event ideas, including family picnics, couple’s retreats, and community events that allow brothers to connect on a more personal level while fostering family unity.


2. October – Developing Post-Membership Training Activities

In October, the focus shifts to onboarding newly initiated members. We’ll explore organizing a comprehensive post-MTA orientation session that includes on how to incoporate chapter and province program. Sessions will cover topics such as Etiquette and Protocol, the Constitution and by-laws, Robert’s Rules of Order and Meeting Decorum, introductions to committees and regular chapter projects, standing social events, and fundraising ideas and participation. This month will help new members integrate seamlessly into the fraternity’s operations while empowering them to contribute actively.


3. November – Recruiting and Retaining Brothers

November’s focus will be on how to attract new brothers to our fraternal order while keeping existing members engaged and active. We’ll explore how to implement surveys and open forums to gather feedback and apply problem-solving mitigation techniques to address concerns and enhance retention. Additionally, we’ll look at best practices for recruitment, mentorship, and creating an inclusive, supportive environment that fosters long-term commitment. This month will provide strategies to ensure brothers feel valued, connected, and motivated to contribute to the fraternity’s growth.


4. December – Reflecting and Planning for the Next Year

As the year comes to a close, December will encourage us to reflect on our accomplishments and lessons learned. We’ll also discuss how to set goals and strategize for the upcoming year, ensuring we continue to build on our progress and grow both individually and collectively.


5. January – Organizing a Successful Fundraiser

Starting the year strong, January will cover how to plan and execute successful fundraisers. We’ll explore creative ideas, the logistics of organizing an event, and how to secure sponsorships and community support to meet financial goals for scholarships or other charitable causes.


6. February – Hosting a Charitable Event

This month, we’ll delve into how to host meaningful charitable events. From logistics to partnerships, we’ll discuss the steps needed to create an event that not only raises funds but also raises awareness for causes important to our fraternity and community.


7. March – Planning a Fun Run for Charity

As we move into spring, March’s post will focus on organizing a charity fun run, 5K, or even. We’ll cover the permits, logistics, and marketing strategies to ensure your event is a success, attracting participants and raising funds for important causes.


8. April – Increasing Participation in Kappa League

This month, we’ll dive into how to boost participation and engagement in the Kappa League. From recruitment strategies to mentorship programs, we’ll explore ways to strengthen our impact on the next generation of leaders.


9. May – Collaborating with Other Organizations

In May, we’ll focus on building partnerships. Learn how to collaborate with other organizations to amplify our efforts, whether it’s for service projects, social events, or community outreach programs. We'll highlight the benefits of working together to create greater impact.


10. June – Creating Meaningful Social Events

In June, we’ll focus on organizing engaging social events that bring brothers, families, and communities together. We’ll explore fun, creative ideas for events that strengthen relationships, foster brotherhood, and create lasting memories.


11. July – Helping Local Independent School Districts

Education is key to our community’s future, and in July, we’ll explore ways to support our local independent school districts. From providing resources to volunteering time and expertise, we’ll look at how brothers can actively partner with schools to improve the educational experience. This month will focus on impactful actions we can take to make a meaningful difference in the lives of students, teachers, and administrators, helping to strengthen our ties to education and the community.


12. August – Organizing a Family-Centered Service Project

To round out the year, August will focus on service projects that involve the entire family. Whether it’s a community clean-up or a school supply drive, we’ll explore ways to incorporate family participation in giving back to our communities.


This monthly series is designed to inspire action and encourage collaboration. Together, we can tackle each of these topics, ensuring we continue to grow as a fraternity while making a lasting impact in our communities. Join us each month as we brainstorm, collaborate, and make great things happen!
